I watched the new Paranormal Activities movie with my kids recently and it dawned on me that we are witnessing a new generation of media makers and audience. Apparantly every thing is a potential money-maker if you get it on video or should I say if you set it up on video.
Here we sat watching a giant you-tube kind of home movie while kids all around were hunkered down in their seats covering their eyes. Some even cried. Stupid me I didn’t get it. My alter ego, Septic-the-Skeptic kept talking in my head. Saying things like “why don’t they just go to a motel?” I guess after years of special effects full of gory scenes I simply couldn’t use the whole implied sound effects thingy to pump my imagination enough to get scared.
